Khruangbin at Ohana Festival

Just a few weeks ago, Orange County hosted over 30 talented artists for an incredible 3-day festival! The last day of September marked the start of 2022's Ohana Festival. The event, founded by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, has taken place at one of Dana Point's finest spots, Doheny Beach, since the festival's inception in 2016. Vedder curated an outstanding lineup of artists, including a headline performance by the one-and-only Stevie Nicks on day one!

Before Nicks closed the over 10-hour day, one of The SoCal Sound's most beloved bands, Khruangbin, hit the stage with a fantastic performance! The trio, made up of bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer, and drummer Donald "DJ" Johnson, originated 13 years ago in Houston, Texas. Since then, the band has created four studio albums and five stunning EPs. The group began their performance right after sunset. Since their set took place in the evening, they were one of few bands who got the opportunity to be infinitely creative with lighting and other visuals.

This performance comes right off the heels of their new album, 'Ali'. Released on September 23rd, 'Ali' is a collaboration between Khruangbin and Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Touré. The record, delivered through Dead Oceans, follows their critically acclaimed EP 'Texas Moon'. This EP works alongside the 2020 release 'Texas Sun'. Both blossomed from Khruangbin's partnership with legendary artist Leon Bridges and include iconic songs such as 'Midnight' and 'B-Side'.
