A Decade of Harcourt(July 23, 2021)
The Independent 88.5 FM celebrated the 10th Anniversary of legendary broadcaster & tastemaker Nic Harcourt on a special edition of The Nic Harcourt Morning Show with Jet!
Public, member-supported, 88.5 FM’s Nic Harcourt Show has added a new voice “Jet” in a supporting role during mornings on KCSN. 88.5 FM’s, internationally known radio DJ Nic Harcourt, recently celebrated his 2,000th show on the popular L.A.-based Triple-A rock station. “Jet” has been with 88.5 FM for over 4 years, contributing in various roles.
“She has done several jobs at the station over the past 4 years. Including on-air weekends and evenings, and Nic has been her on-air mentor.” 88.5 FM General Manager Patrick Osburn said, “Nic is truly a national treasure to the broadcast community, and we are thrilled he invited her to join him. Nic flys the plane, and Jet brings her producer, social media, night owl skills.”
The duo brings complimentary lifestyles to the show. Harcourt is regarded as the ultimate “tastemaker” in music. Many artists have credited Harcourt for putting them on the map and helping them achieve stardom, including Adele, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, KT Tunstall, Interpol, Lana Del Rey, The Record Company, Norah Jones, David Gray, Florence + The Machine, and countless others. “Jet” is very active in the local and national music scene, and also handles promotions & social media for the station.
Harcourt said, “From my early days in Woodstock and a three person morning show, to the freeform “tastemaker” radio of my first public radio gig in Santa Monica, and these past 8 years at KCSN/KSBR, I’ve had the good fortune to connect with listeners in meaningful ways. We’re living in challenging times, and it’s more important than ever to spin great music and deliver information the audience can use, and yes have some fun! Adding Jet to the mix brings a fabulous new perspective for both myself and the audience”
Jet said, “Nic has been such a great mentor and friend since the beginning of my career. I’m fortunate to continue to learn more about our industry everyday from him, Jet added, “my experience at 88.5 has been an amazing ride, and this next chapter will be awesome.”
Program Director Marc Kaczor said, "We're happy to be getting such great feedback on the station in general, and especially the mornings. I think recent changes in the local morning show landscape have led many new listeners to find and appreciate the 885 morning show, as well as the entire station's music mix."
The Nic Harcourt Morning show with Jet can be heard on 88.5-FM, Monday thru Friday from 6am-11am.
The station is a combined effort of California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and Saddleback College, which began simulcasting as 88.5 FM in October 2017, linking together the Los Angeles County- and Orange County-based signals.
