Happy Birthday to PJ Harvey's debut record "Dry" which turns 34 today. It came out on March 30, 1992.
Where in the world would women in rock be without someone like PJ? Where would I be without her? Probably curled up in a ball in the corner of my childhood bedroom sobbing into my fuzzy pink onesie pajamas writing sad poems into my diary.
Instead, I got my first guitar - a dark purple electric Ibanez. And my first Peavey amp. Cuz girls can be in bands, too. I learned to write my own music and sing unforgivingly into the microphone like a bad ass.
Miss Polly Jean Harvey taught all of us girls you can be sexy, feminine, fierce, and soft, all at the same.
Let's celebrate this record this week by doing a RETRO 88-5 ALBUM DIVE into it each weekday just after 12-Noon on the SoCal Sound.
