Pool Kids Bring Intimate Acoustic Performances to Friday on a Friday

In a special hybrid LIVE ON-THE-AIR interview with a recorded performance, two members of Pool Kids stopped by The SoCal Sound for a SoCal Sound Session. This was also an exclusve interview for Friday on a Friday with Julie Slater and Jason Friday!

The Florida-born, genre-blurring band delivered stripped-down acoustic versions of Borderline,” “Exit Plan,” and “Perfect View,” offering listeners a rare chance to hear the rawest emotional core of the songs in a un-produced stripped back way. Self described as "math-rock", this offered an opportunity to get to the most basic form of these songs.

CHRISTINE AND ANDY FROM POOL KIDS PERFORMING ACOUSTIC

During the interview, Christine and Andy talked about the realities of being a modern band, with members spread across multiple cities and coming together only when the music demands it. They reflected on forming in Tallahassee, navigating life on the road, and how collaboration has evolved as Pool Kids continues to grow. Julie Slater has shared openly her particular opinion about spending some of her life in Florida!

The conversation also touched on recording their latest album Easier Said Than Done, creative chemistry within the band, and the challenge of capturing moments of “magic” in the studio—insight that made the acoustic performances feel even more personal.
